Proud To Be a Patriot

To be a patriot means that you show love for your country and that you believe in freedom, liberty, and justice for all. So, yes, I believe that patriotism is very important. Otherwise you would be living the life of a soulless communist.
Sadly schools everywhere around the country are showing lack of patriotism and respect by not saying the Pledge of Allegiance. I find it weird because people complained about the Pledge being religious, but last time I checked we were allowed religious freedom. I remember a time when past veterans could walk in the classroom during Veterans Day to talk about past experiences. But nowadays, students are not allowed to talk about the very being of war. Schools don’t want kids to join the military, but for me that is the highest of honor, to protect the American people from harm.
Today’s media shows a complete lack of respect for our past veterans. Slowly the American people are being stripped away of their rights that our ancestors came to this great land and fought for, and if you think about it, if our rights are being taken away, we are slowly becoming a communist country. We used to have the right to bear arms. Politicians feel that guns are too dangerous. If guns cause murder, matches cause arson. President Obama wants to allow only certain people to ask questions during press conferences which is taking away our freedom of speech. Our freedom of religion is also being taken away. Certain religious groups won’t let us talk about them in anyway but yet they are allowed to talk about us and burn our bibles. What politicians have done is shown the most un-patriotic move of them all.
But even with the little shred of patriotism we have left we still have it better than most countries. In communist countries such as Russia, China, Korea, etc. they have no freedom. The stuff that they own is not theirs, it’s the governments. I think that in communist countries you are not allowed to pick what job you want, and in China you can only have two children, where as in America you can all of the that and more.
